Gotta do a quick take on this because honestly I’m a tad bit irritated. Steve Kerr receiving the 2015–16 Coach of the Year Award makes no sense to me. The guy was on his couch for most of the first half of the season. He wasn’t on the sideline until January 22nd. The guy missed 43 out of 82 games.

Sure, the Warriors had a record setting 73 win season, but that’s not difficult when you have Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green doing what they do. So is it really the coaching? Or just the talent Kerr inherited? He very well may be the luckiest man in the world.

Personally, I don’t think he should have won it all. There were far more deserving candidates. This award is for the best coach of the season, not to simply give it to the best team in the league’s coach. You’ve got guys like Brad Stevens, Terry Stotts, and Dwayne Casey who should have gotten it before Kerr.

The coach I thought deserved it was Brad Stevens. He came into the league signing with a rebuilding franchise, but because of the outstanding front office, they are now way ahead of schedule. I mean the guy took an island of misfit toys to the playoffs two years in a row now. The Church of Stevens is alive and well. There is no doubt he is the next superstar coach of the NBA. Him coming in 6th place for COY voting is an absolute joke.

Pretty disappointed in the league that they had to give their prize Warriors more attention. Like come on already, they get enough spotlight. Let’s get off that bandwagon and recognize those who really deserve it.
