After a year of sitting on his couch, still being paid a few million by the Bulls, Tom Thibodeau has found himself a new gig. The Minnesota Timberwolves have finalized a 5 year deal with Thibs to become the team’s new head coach and also President of Basketball Operations.

I’m happy for Thibs, I loved him in Chicago and still think firing him was one of the worst decisions the franchise has made, along with hiring Fred Hoiberg. It obviously came back to haunt the Bulls this year. The defense was nonexistent and it was apparent. Sure, Thibs is known to get on his players and work them, but come on this is the NBA. There’s no room for softies like Fred Hoiberg, which was an issue this year.

Thibs is also getting the decision making role regarding the roster for the team, which is HUGE. It’s no secret the Bulls’ front office and Thibs didn’t see eye to eye on things. Gar Forman should’ve been the one fired but that’s a story for another time.

Thibs has full control over this young roster and if I’m a Western Conference team I would be scared. You have Andrew Wiggins, Karl Anthony-Towns, Zach LaVine, Ricky Rubio, and a top 5 draft pick. I truly believe Thibs is going to transform this team and we may see them in the playoffs as early as next season. What Thibs can do defensively and to develop these younger guys is going to be nothing short of spectacular. Just wait on it.

Also need Thibs to bring back the track suit in Minny.

… one of my favorite pictures of all time

Here’s another. Beautiful art.
